Lightbulb Windshield

Hi all is there any way to polish the pits out of my windshield. after the tough winter we went through, with all the stuff they put on the roads here. I would like to try to polish it before I go through the cost of a new one. IF SO WHAT WOULD I USE thanks JRB53 2000 x308

I personally would never recommend polishing the windshield, or windscreen as we call it in the UK :-) because it is an integral part of the cars structure.

But if you do want to, I am sure someone here will be able to recommend a mild glass polishing compound for you.

I just use clay bar and soapy water to clean my glass, I realise that this will not remove any pits or scratches.

Had a new windscreen fitted last year, it was not that expensive, £175 + £35 VAT.

At £210 all in, it was a lot cheaper than I was expecting.

It really does make a huge difference having a new screen.

That is a bargain considering Jaguar charges ~€1000 for the same job here...!

If you can get someone to install it, RockAuto sells them for around $150 U.S. I am actually thinking of replacing mine because of some weird haze that I get on there when I use the wiper when it rains or gets wet.

Have you tried clay bar on the glass?

If you do not have any, then try white tack,( the same as blue tack, but not as sticky ) with some soapy water in a spray bottle.

Also, the wiper blade should be cleaned regularly. The rubber gets contaminated with all kinds of stuff. I just wipe it with damp soapy cloth.

Most people forget this step.

Please be aware that "pits' (small chips in the glass created by rocks) can't be polished out by paste (finishing polish) but only filled. Depending on their size and depth, you may wish to use a repair kit on those areas.
