Windshield crack!

Windshield crack!
1998 VDP, beautiful in and out.
I am in Los Angeles. Placed the velcro midline at the top of the windshield to hold the transponder behind the rearview mirror...
A day or so later I see a single crack in the windshield. AAAUGHHH!
(its been upwards of 90 degrees all summer and is only now down into the high-70's...)
There is no spidering. The crack is about 3-4" (7-10 cm) traveling downward only. I am afraid that it has grown just a bit. (I have guys wash the car every week... they may not be gentle.)
Are there any solutions besides replacing the windshield??? Would a little crazy glue prevent any further problems? (Can it hurt???)
I'm a little ****... and the replacement windshield would have a blue tint stripe across the top. Afraid that would clash horribly with my amethyst exterior color!!!
Please help... Will send pics if that could help...

Had mine replaced & it's perfect @ 250$ in my own drive way. @ 3-4 inches it will likely continue to grow, best to nip it in the bud now imo.
"****" but willing to super glue your windshield ?! lol.
Safelite also repairs with state of the art epoxies/resins/etc. if you don't want to replace.

Check with your insurance company... believe it or not, many insurance companies will replace the windshield without raising rates or, in some cases, even without charging you your deductible - it's worth the call, nothing to lose!
Also, they are usually cheaper without the tinting stripe.

Why not call someone to repair it, not replace it. Since it's fresh and partially hidden anyway, a 3-4" crack repair would look pretty darn good. Iv'e repaired over 7,000 windshields since 1987. A crack is pushing it, but just a little. Think you'ld be happy with it. $60-$65, and insurance will waive a deductible and be happy to save a couple hundred.

A crack is not normally repairable -- and yes some states mandate glass coverage on policies under comprehensive. A rock chip or "star" can often be repaired -- many times this is also covered under some policies.
Take a look at the headliner -- if the windshield is coming out best time to fix the headliner.

I wondered what it would cost, thanks for your post. My XJR windshield is quite pitted and has a few repairs (came that way, so I can't claim it. I'm hoping for a crack this winter or will drop the $300ish this spring at safelite; a new windshield really does make a huge difference on a used car.

Rain Sensor $235.68
Windshield - Green Tint
Rain Sensor $328.95
Rain Sensor, Heated glass $697.63
Now how would one ID if there's has the heated glass?
My car doesn't have the shade, and not sure if I'd want the blue shade on a green car.
What does the rain sensor look like?

I always ask where the glass in coming from -- the glass replacement industry is extremely competitive and to cut costs the cheapest option is typically from China. They may not have many options for the Jaguar -- but I would ask. Also inquire about the gasket -- The jaguar has a full one -- most don't. Are they reusing and adding a bunch of glue ?
I always spend the small uncharge for the major maker USA glass.
The installers are hit and miss -- we have had good and bad --- mostly the problem is speed. The guys installing are making so little money today that they don't have much time for each job.
With a fleet of company cars this happens once or twice a year. We have been taking the cars to the shop (it's only a couple miles away) vs using the mobil van -- especially in the winter.
