Thumbs up Winter tire setups- XJR

Anyone running skinnier tires for winter weather? 245,235,225's maybe? Post your winter tire set ups and what has worked well for you.

I have 245/45VR17 Dunlap Winter Sports on one of my R's.

Use a set of late 90's XK8 rims.

I have 4 stock size 255/40R18s Michelin Pilot Alpin PA2s on my XJR's stock Penta wheels. They were 1 year old and off a Porsche that wrecked on it's summer tires. I prefer Blizzaks but eh, $150 total and they're definitely good enough. My A8L with Blizzaks can go scary fast.

I'm thinking the 255 provides too much surface area to be able to "cut through" winter conditions on the road. worked out ok for you though?

If i could find some cheap wheels to swap out i would too

I thought that initially but my A8 basically is the same width, 245s, so pretty much a 3/8s of an inch difference.

It worked ok.

My brothers A8 is all well drive .... not sure what was around in 04... I think the base was FWD ... not going to have the same performance as the RWD X308.

You should be able to find some cheap wheels. I never do the seasonal remount.

I used the 16" XJ8 wheels on the rear with 215/60/16 tires. They won't fit over the front XJR brakes though.
