Worst alternator I ever changed!

Just installed a new alternator on my 93 XJ8 and what a job. Had to remove the oil filter and the fan housing along with the air box, cant get to the wire connectors until you unbolt the unit to turn it over. The top 10 mm bolt was a booger. Removing the fan housing is the only way to get the old one out and the new one in. On any other car you are talking 25/30 minutes, took me the better part of two hours but the job is done and I am back up running again. Would hate to see what a shop would charge for the change.

I changed it on my 99 Vanden Plas and it sucked. I have done them for other customers before and charged $100 for labor. My biggest problem on my own was getting the new alternator to slip onto the bracket where the larger bolt goes through. If it wasnt for that I could almost do it with my eyes closed. I didnt have to pull the fan out either.
