Default Wrecked Kitty problems...

So, my Cat has been wrecked pretty bad it was hit on the driver wheel well hard. No electronics work in the car now when I turn the key, and the car is in park. How do I manually unlock the tranny to get it into neutral so I can transport the car?

to the left of the shifter just above P there is a plastic plug with a torx type socket undo this and either use the ignition key or something similar to depress the plunger. this will release the brake pedal gearshift interlock. at the same time move gear selector out of park into N. be sure to apply parking brake to avoid rolling down the street. sorry to hear of the damage to your jaguar. andrew

The car is equipped with an inertia switch that shuts it's vitals off like fuel pump in case of things like this, it's located behind the gas pedal, push it down and if it clicks it should be back to normal. Any airbags gone off?
What are your plans with it, fix it?
Anyway good luck and at least you're safe and sound

Skinny- the inertia switch for us on the other side of the pond is behind the passenger right foot kick panel. (there is a rubber boot over the switch, so you will be able to tell what you are looking for)

You guys and gals have been a life saver. Yea plans are to hopefully get my cat back on the road. I've had a lot of cars and I've never loved a car like my Jag. If not I will be purchasing an x308 XJR and saving mine for parts. I have driven an X350 jag quite a bit and though it may be all around better, it doesn't feel as unique as my car.

One thing I can say is that my jag is a tank, you should see the car that hit me!

The X308 bodyshell is pretty strong-unless it's been weakened by rust or previous bad repairs etc.

I can recommend the X308 XJR-it's all the car you'll ever need & has less mechanical weak spots than the regular XJ8, as in no VVT to worry about & also the stronger Mercedes gearbox.

The XJR is less of a mechanical risk because it has the stronger Mercedes gearbox & no VVT units on the camshafts. The supercharger is just a big rotating air pump & relatively simple on the XJR.

The XJ8 also has an air-injection system to reduce exhaust emissions on cold starts, but the XJR does not have this system either, so again it's simpler mechanically. The XJ8 has extra systems with complex small parts, whereas the XJR does not have these & just has a simple big rotating air-pump
