X308 rear mirror disassembly question
Gents, the thread by GordoCatCar (https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=17719) about taking out the rear view mirror was most excellent, but it was a different car, an XK. That console does not look like mine, and I am a bit confused.
What do I take off on the overhead console on an x308? The entire thing, or a subsection of it (as the light/garage switch area as the thread said)?
Is the procedure the same? Is there a thread I just didn't get through my searches?
Thanks for you help!!

I should learn some patience, I found the answer on another forum.
On the same subject, I am looking at my mirror, see the small metal spring clip at the bottom side of the mount, and wonder what to do with it. Do you lift it while you slide the mirror down, or ? I have fiddled with it enough to wonder if I am missing something.
Thanks!

OK, forget that one too. To answer my own question, that lever like thing hanging out the bottom is not a control at all, but part of a spring mechanism to hold the mirror on.
You don't engage that, you overpower it by pushing down on the mirror hard enough to break the spring tension. I also sprayed a silicone based lubricant into the area before pushing it DOWN, on the plane of the glass. Popped right off!
You can get a flashlight in the mechanism from outside the car, through the windshield, and then it becomes a bit more clear, at least that is how I got it.
Posted this just in case it shows up in someone else's search results.
Seems so simple now...
