x308 reverse light issues.

x308 reverse light issues.
Aloha all,
I've searched for a solution, but haven't been able to find one...
After purchasing a 1999 x308, I was informed that my reverse lights were not working... took a peek and there were no bulbs. Now that I've installed bulbs and replaced a few other, incorrect bulbs, often the reverse light will stay on after shifting to drive or park. Shifting back and forth will turn it off, but I really don't like tearing that cold transmission through the gears! Anyway, I'm now past due for safety inspection and need to get this sorted ASAP! Any help is appreciated!

I don't think we're looking at the same setup. I have the ZF 5HP24 transmission, and looks more like pages 72-73. No dual linear switch is shown/seen there. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find anything in the previous section either.
Thanks again for the PDFs. Tons of good stuff there!

For your trans in that pdf, have you checked page 63 for the rotary switch? http://jagrepair.com/images/AutoRepa...ch%205HP24.pdf

If you see above, I replaced the rotary switch and that made no difference. The new part looks cleaner, but that isn't helping. Been looking for burned wires, etc. around the gas tank, grommets, bends, etc.... Haven't been able to find anything. Next step is SLM, but I'd love some other suggestions before throwing $$ and parts at it...
