X308 side marker turn signal?
Has anyone ever seen (or done) a conversion for the side marker badge (behind the front wheel wells) to be used as a turn signal - like on the newer Jettas, Hondas, etc.??? I was looking at something like these (but you would have to cut the body panel to recess the housings):
Pair Side Marker Smoke White Lamp for Honda 02 05 Civic EP3 02 06 Integra RSX US | eBay
Any thoughts or experiences???
Thanks,
Darren

May be cheaper than importing the correct amber ones from the UK / Europe.

I'm betting that an X300 signal/repeater will drop right in....
Direction Indicator Side Repeater Lamp - Parts For XJ Series from (V)720125 to (V)812255 (X300) | Jaguar Heritage Parts UK
These were used on all X300s regardless of market. Should be very easy to find some good used ones. They'll be amber, though.
Cheers

Ok, so I found these on eBay:
2 1995 97 Jaguar XJ6 VDP Front Side Marker Light Turn Signal Amber Blinker | eBay
Hoping that there are existing wires in the body panel. If not, will splicing these onto the front signals affect amp load electronically? Sometimes it will cause the blinker to not function properly?????
Thanks for your advice and feedback.

Fender cutting?
Thanks "Dad"
Did you have any issues cutting through the fender? Like secondary panels or paint chipping? I plan on taping the area over and drilling opposing corners, then jig saw to the alternate corners. Obviously, I will start smaller and file out to a tight fit.
Thanks for the reply!

I bought my side marker assemblies from a "breaker" in England, complete with bulbs and wiring connectors.
It's about a two hour job for a novice, you have to remove the left wheel and wheel arch liner to run the wiring on the left side.

I did the same as Vector on my XJR.
The X300 sidemarkers are correct and fit the recess in the fender. As Vector says, the wiring including the connector is already there on the right side, making them plug and play. The left side you will have to run some wire to the front turn signal after removing the left wheel and inner fender liner.
Note that you will need the connector going to the back of the sidemarker on the left side, so try to get that included when you buy them. No holes to drill or wires to cut, just use IDCs to connect to the turn signal wires. No electrical issues, they work great, and I think provide an element of safety when lane changing.

Go to this web site and follow the wiring diagram, there are no components to purchase. This is a great site for lighting information.
