X308 under bonnet tool kit - an Idea!

So today, while vacationing in beautiful Southern California, I bought a gorgeous Jaguar X308 Tool Kit!
Pics to follow when I receive it.
It looks unused.
The kit is missing a small wrench (aka spanner), but that's okay, I think I can find one on eBay UK.

p.s. Anyone know the size(s) of the small spanner in this kit?

Nice thread!
I keep a machine shop towel in there (to wipe the dipstick when checking level), and I use it to wipe EVERYTHING I can reach under the hood, occasionally (I like my engine compartment clean, but not shined with sprays). There is also a tire gauge there. Tool kit is next to the spare wheel, as is the OBD scanner, few boxes of 9mm hollow points, etc.
Glock travels in the front seat pocket. Nice (genuine leather) pocket is provided in the VDP "just for that". Easy to reach, and out of site. Glock is not a fancy, pretty shooter, but a perfect tool that can take the abuse. Never leave the home without one. Since I have MANY, each vehicle has it's "own".
My line of work takes me to some REALLY shady corners of San Bernardino and Riverside counties, and IF the shooting starts, I don't want to be the only one without any "tools".
The original tool kit would be a nice addition though.

stuart...I find (at heart) you are someone who is constantly looking to improve things and think out of the box as it were. Nothing wrong with this...I pretty much don't believe in mods or changes to our cars...of course unless necessary to improve /maintain performance ...so under the hood ok....with me as is changing badges and lights...if necessary they can always be undone
would be interested in knowing what you paid for the kit...and where you eventually got it

I want to use that tool compartment in the engine bay.
I know there were tool kits offered in the UK for our cars.
I've been trying to find one. It looks like this:

Every time I find one, it is usually on eBay UK and sells for a lot more than I want to pay for one.
I have an idea to use gun case foam or closed cell foam and make a custom tool holder for this tool compartment.
This is gun case foam:

I've got a set of Craftsman Professional tools that I used to have displayed in my show car's trunk.
Once I get the foam, I will make nice clean cutouts for each tool.
This is where it will be fun; getting to decide exactly which tools to carry.
Also, since we don't have to carry extra light bulbs like they do in the UK, I will have a little more room for tools![Wink](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I will post up some pics when I get done.
If it turns out nice, and you would like to make one for your Jaguar,
I will also post up the contact info for a very nice gentleman who sells custom cut foam for MANY applications.

I paid $140.00 shipped from a forum member.
According to the tracking number I will have this tomorrow.
As you can see, it's missing the smaller spanner wrench,
so I am on the lookout for a correct one.
For now, I will make do with a smaller version of a Rambo Knife in the lower spanner compartment.
