Default X308 - upgrading to Brembo

Hi,

Will upgrade the brakes to Brembo. The callipers will be gray with the Jaguar-print in British Racing Green. Will look bloody awsome, I think.

The complete kit will be bought from Home - Tom Lenthall Ltd - Independent Jaguar Specialists

Today the car is fitted with Pental wheels.

My issue is that I don't like the Milan BBS wheels because of the "the bolts" around.

Have anybody suggestions for which wheels I should go for?

You need wheels with the correct offset/clearance for the calipers
I believe tat you can keep your Penta if you are willing to use spacers

Seems pretty pricey for 4 calipers.
You should also ask the seller about the other parts and modifications that you need to do to put the brembo on your car

Only the early "Siverstone" calipers are bolt-on, otherwise you need to tap ad drill your vertical link

The Penta's fit? I ask because it was my understanding spacers are needed.

I've got a 2003 XJR with the Milans and factory Brembos and the wheel clearance is very tight. I'm actually not to wild about the Milans because the car is a daily driver and I don't like them enough to justify the hassle and cost. I even, gasp, considered backdating the calipers to single piston units, but that was temporary insanity. One can get a full set of Pentas or Asteroids for the cost of a single Milan.

On a whim, I attempted to mount a 16" Crown wheel from my VDP on the rear of the XJR thinking the rear caliper would be small enough to clear and it was not - it did not fit. I understand the XJR wheels are 18s and I was just trying to avoid using the red doughnut while I was repairing the a trim ring on the Milans.

Excuse me if I'm treadjacking, it is not my intent. If some wheel knowledge falls out of your thread, I'm hoping I can use it. Plus, I'm pretty familiar with the factory Brembo setup as well as the stock setup on a VDP.

Mike]
re-read my post:
I said "if you are willing to use spacers"

You can get some cheap 19" rim from tire-rack that will fit over the brembo.
I also have brembo/milan and i use a 19" as a spare

You'll also need new brake lines, and either new dust shields, or you'll need to trim the originals to clear the larger disks.
Don't forget about disks too.

I've got most of the pieces to do this swap myself. I managed to source a set of BBS Detroits from Japan. I never thought about the space saver though! Does anyone know if there is a specific space saver for the Brembo cars, or if the regular one will fit?
The audio install in the boot means there is no way I can fit a full size spare. Not that I'd be able to find a 5th wheel anyway...

As for wheels... As mentioned, any of the Jaguar BBS wheels will work. They're not cheap, or easy to find, but given you're paying that much for callipers I'm guessing that's not a problem!
At which point, you should be able to custom order pretty much any wheel you like. Personally I think the BBS Perseus are the nicest looking wheels for these cars. They're a pretty generic BBS design, so you could go with a set of genuine BBS wheels, something like the CH-R, or you could find something similar by other manufacturers. I believe the Work Gnosis range should have a few options that would fit

FYI these are the Perseus wheels
