The t2 is a pretty amazing differential. Back in college i was obsessed with gear type differential superiority! Does the offset pinion flange necessitate a slight redesign in the drive shaft or can the jurid coupling tolerate the small degree of flex? i know the Xj40 and x300 have an arrangement with two u-joints. I was speculating you were going to use the spicer u joint pinion input and modify your drive shaft to suit (did the pinion seal not fit?), your custom pinion flange is definitely a very nice approach.

On the supercharged models the prop shaft set up in conjunction with the jurid coupling should be able to accommodate the offset. I'm also changing the triangular brace plate also. When we did the XK 180 sports car prototype we used a 15 HU diff and also on the XKR'R (if you rememeber that) with the manual trans. The 15 HU is what the SC models should have had from the outset.

The U joint was commonly used up to the Series 3. An easier route for me would have been to switch to U joints, however I wanted the added refinement afforded by the jurid coupling design

Ok this is an ancient thread but just wanted to ask Count a dumb question. Why does the 14HU even exist? Surely somebody in your engineering team just didn’t call up GKN and tell them to make the same exact thing but worse?

Also found out last week pinion seals are NLA and $400 from the only seller. Yikes, definitely not fixing mine.

Reading and re-reading the thread I am still confused. Is there a set of ring and pinion that fits straight into the 14HU housing? If I have to have some work done to fit a Jurid coupling I can live with that (I will even consider going to universal joint at the diff.)
