Can anyone tell me if the seats (front and back) from a series 3 Sovereign will slot straight into 1999 XJ8 -x308?
I am aware there will be the electrics to consider but am more interested in the mounting points, etc.
Have been offered a full set of series 3 seats at very minimal cost.
Appreciate any advice as just starting this restore process.

I can't say myself, but from a hot rodders perspective, could you not modify the front seat rails if need be? Should only be moving the foot mount point, perhaps a touch of welding and spray paint then.
As for the rear, that's another story. This may seem odd, but I would check with an upholstery shop. They may even be able to massage them into place, and cover a spot or two, ...if needed.
If your close by, I'm going there with a measuring tape and pulling out my existing and comparing.

Heading to the upholsterer next week to get it sorted. Was looking for a cheap way out as had access to full set of series 3 seats in same colour.
Cheers

A few people have documented putting X300 seats into a Series III so the reverse would seem doable, if not a quick or easy swap. Mounting points for front seats require modification. I believe the frames of the rear X300 seats fit, but still required some "narrowing" of the rear seat back by cutting some of the foam or other material to fit the SIII. So it would seem the SIII seats would not be too wide for the X308. But I don't know how different the X308 seats are compared to X300. I researched this a little when I was selling some XJ40 seats and received a few inquiries regarding if they would fit a SIII. Hope the links work.
