Question XJ8 2003 Looking for Scuttle Cover Parts

I inherited by fathers cherished 2003 XJ8 last year, only 70K miles, and he cared more for this car that most people! I have corrected and fixed a few issues and take great pride in caring for his car. I have a short list of a few remaining items that I would like to correct.

I have searched high and low for far too long. Anyone have a source or these parts available? I am looking for (1) rubber grommet for the side scuttle covers. I have attached an image to show where these parts are located and what they look like. The rubber grommet attaches to the engine compartment and there is a plastic attachment on the scuttle that fastens in the rubber grommet to secure the scuttle. This is the first photo.

Also, there is a missing square fastener that secures the middle scuttle piece. See attached image. I have the plastic fastened that inserts on top to secure the middle scuttle cover, but I am missing the square piece underneath that secures it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Look in the Dorman rack at your auto parts store and find the closest match (Maybe ACE hardware, too). If that is your sole complaint, Dad took incredible care . . . I thought mine was pretty cherry, but WOW!

If you had too you could make your own using small diameter hose . . .

Try this site. https://everydayxj.com

Maybe if you’re real lucky, you’ll find it sitting on top of the transmission. There’s a few little valleys that it can sit in but, most likely not.

Thanks Juartz. I will try a few different auto parts store. Perhaps there will be different stock. I also have an Ace Hardware in town too. And looks like David with everydayxj is well known! I've reached out for other parts in the past and totally forgot about him this time. My dad's jag is pretty pristine, but I have performed other work as well. Front struts were due for replacement, replaced the clock as it was slow, replaced the bezel around the shifter as it was falling apart, replaced the truck gas struts, and the most recent repair were the wires leading to the trunk. The trunk light was intermittent, and then completely stopped working, shortly afterwards, the trunk release and key fob wouldn't work to open it. A good friend of mine is a phenomenal mechanic and fixed it in no time. I have attached a picture of what he found. I figured it was a loose wire, but did not suspect this!

Wow!!! Those wires were designed to flex. I wonder what could
have caused that?

Broken trunk wires are very, very common. I assume it's due to a combination of the insulation becoming hardened and brittle and the copper fatiguing at the most acute flex point(s).

On my first XJ8, a Canadian market model used by Jag execs for the 2001 Toronto and Ottawa auto shows, it was constantly showing BOOT OPEN: tech at Rosenthall in Tyson Corners swore I was hitting the button as i inserted the key; then hit the button with my knee . . . tech at Checkered Flag searched a little harder and found frayed wires . . . car had less than 5000 miles then.

It's good to know that is a problem area. It seems something
that would we would do well to keep an eye on.
