This past weekend I received the 'failsafe engine mode' warning with amber light, so decided it was time to see if the brake switch was failing, and if the switch was triggering the failsafe warning.
I removed the switch and tested both micro-switches with a meter. The 'outer' micro-switch (marked SW1) appears to be wired 'Normally Open', and is working with a crisp on/off cycle as the switch is activated - the other (marked SW2) appears to be wired 'Normally closed'. In the closed position it gives me a reading of about 100 ohms - apparently not full contact. I assume this is my switch problem.......but I welcome any feedback. Unfortunately I don't have a wiring diagram and can't make a more sensible assessment.
And finally - if there is a problem with 'SW2', could this be causing the 'failsafe' warning? I've seen a reference on these forums to a connection, although I don't understand how the two are/could be related.
Thank you for any feedback and insight.
Yep, on all counts..........switch it out.

Cheers,
