XJ8 Center Bearing replacement

![Question](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/icons/icon5.gif)
I am a new member but really like the site and information available. We are on our 3rd and 4th Jags (XJ6 written off with hail damage, XJ8 3.2 sport written off).
Our 2000 XJ8 4.0 Sport (193,000 kms) has a vibration in the rear on overrun and from looking at the forums it seems like the driveshaft centre bearing needs replacement.
Can I replace just the bearing and jurid couplings or do I need to replace the whole driveshaft? The workshop manual says " CAUTION: To preserve 'drive line' refinement, individual parts, other than fixings, MUST NOT be renewed. In the event of any balance or driveshaft component related problem, the complete assembly must be renewed. Under no circumstances may the flexible (Jurid) coupling be removed from the driveshaft (or its fixings be loosened). Do not drop or subject the driveshaft to damage. and also CAUTION: Under no circumstances must the flexible coupling (or its fixings) be loosened or removed from the drive shaft.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

I have not replaced just the center bearing before but, I have heard that the center bearing is replaceable with a 95'-97' XJ6 center bearing which they offer for sale new. The jurid coupling can also be replaced with a new one. You can also take apart the two halves of the driveshaft. If you are that concerned, mark the two halves with a permanent marker or white out then seperate for service.
