xj8 engine ecu
ret.h:-
2000 xj8,4lt,lwb, sovereign
Does anybody know an engine ecu repairer in the uk.
Mine is making the car run rich, garage states I need a new one,and delivery for a new one from jaguar is 3 months ,and very expensive!
I have been told I cannot fit a second hand one in as it is programmed to the car by jaguar.
[ have already had a full diagnostic, smoke test, wiring test, two new lambda sensors, bill £1300,and it still runs rich ]

A second hand one can be fitted IF the VCATS numbers are the same. You might have to do an IMMOBILIZATION SETUP if the engine will not start after the replacement.
PDU, WDS, IDS etc. can be used to perform the setup.
You would probably need to do the setup anyway if you bought the new one from the dealer!!!!!!!!!

If you do not have an OBD reader, go to this page on the forums and select one. https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/g...oved-**-33347/
They can be had for less than $100.
Use it to check the readings of the MAF sensor, LTFT and STFT.
I would do that before throwing another large amount of money at the problem.
Most members quickly find that they cannot own this beautiful car without owning an OBD reader.
good luck

could you explain what a Vcats number is ? I have the part no LNF1410BD517,But this is all the information I can find.I do not yet have an OBD reader for this car,as the one I have is for other vehicles.
As I stated, I have had a full diagnostic done already, which said 'air leak',one smoke test later-no air leak! then full wiring check,o2 sensors not working [replaced 6months ago].After replacement still running rich, hence they said ecu faulty.
Jaguar dealers state I cannot fit second hand one to this car,as it has to be programmed to the car by the Jaguar factory. So I need it repaired.
