XJ8 Fuses
I have just purchaced a XJ8 2000. the car came with no remote fob, I have since bought one from ebay.
My problem is the central locking switch in the car does not seem to work therefor i can not program the fob into the car.
I suspect the fuse may have blown, the car also unfortnatly did not come with a hand book to locate the falty fuse, I belive it is in the boot next to the battery but which one.?
can anyone help.

If you are to own the Jag for a while, I recommend you get a cheap 12 volt test light. Then you can test ALL of the fuses in about 5 minutes. Turn the car to "on" and test the hole on the outboard side of each fuse for voltage. If no voltage, test inboard side. If no voltage , remove fuse and look as it might be good or bad. I THINK there are one or two fuses not directly connected to a hot rail.
The reason I did not look up the fuse for you is that the fuse locations changed for several year models, and you can look in up in the JTIS manual just like anyone else. See the FAQ section. Good luck.

From my 98 XJ8 manual, luggage compartment fusebox, fuse #1 rating 10 amps "security and locking control module (reversing lamps, rear fog lamps, stop lamps, electrochromatic mirror).
Also #10, same fusebox, security and locking module (boot release, fuel filler flap relay)
The control module itself should be aft of the battery.
Good luck!

Go this page, and download the pdf for your year car, it has the drivers manual, plus the vehicle care, which has the info you want. http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=3...e4b9ac475cdcd3
