xj8 gearbox
hi im new to all this so here goes. i have a 1998 xj8 sport i have lost reverse gear so i have purchased another gear box which i have to put in.
can anyone advise me how best to go about taking the old one out and getting the new one in. also i have been told that i can replace the oil in these even though it is supposed to be a sealed unit any help here also appreciated especially the location of the drain and filler plugs,also do i have to fill it when its in the car or can it be changed before i put it in. all help is greatly appreciated thanks

Replace it like anyother transmission in the world. You can change the filter and gasket on the ground. I would also recommend changing the front and rear seals.
Refilling needs to be done on the car with the proper machine. You won't get the levels right other wise. I've heard of folks doing it via filler tubes. Could be messy, but can be done. I believe the fill hole is on the driver's side.
