I've recently had a oil chg. and fuild levels checked. the car starts fine but won't go when in drive unless i press the gas pedal a few times and it jerks into a slow slow forward motion. But i can feel and hear it's not in the right gear. prior to this I could be driving down the road and the car would just shutdown with flashing warning lights restricted performance, gearbox fault, and check engine light come on. I would pull to the side and restart my car. And when this happens (Restart) i'm already in 2nd gear sometimes. I have to restart again and all is well until it happens again, more often lately. I could even put the car in N when it shutdown and restart and keep moving. Now when i start my car no forward motion, i can go in R with no problem.

I'm sorry to inform you, but there is a 99.99% chance your tranny bit the dust....
Pretty much same thing happened to me in Nov 09. Everythign was fine, but one time, I put the car in reverse and it wouldn't go unless I pressed the gas pedal.. It's like I was stepping on a brake pedal at the same time. THen, when I put it in D, it reved up, and then the car jerked forward, and that's when Restricted Performance showed up on the console... I was able to drive it home (30miles), and thankfully it was mostly highway driving, as the tranny felt like it was stuck in 4th gear. Getting it going from a stop took reaaaaaally long, but once above 15mph, it was't so bad. Had it towed to Mr. Transmission, got a rebuilt tranny for $2800 installed. Working fine now.
