XJ8 Stability Control Problem
Hi,
I am attempting to diagnose a stability control problem on a 99 XJ8. The light comes on randomly and the car goes into derate mode. When the car is turned off and restarted the light goes out and the the car operates normally. I checked all the wheel sensors with an ohm meter. No problem found with them. I also disconnected the battery to reset the module ( read this somewhere ???) Any ideas? It's driving me crazy. I don't want to spen the money for a module without being sure this is the problem.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

RE: XJ8 Stability Control Problem
'99 XJ8 .................................................. ........., prime candidate for a new battery,
as an aging battery will throw spurious fault codes out leading you up the garden path,
unless you know its a new battery and its good, it a good cheap alternative to chasing ghost problems , though you should still get things checked out properly
hope this helps

RE: XJ8 Stability Control Problem
week battery will usually just make the trac not available flash on momentarily when car first started
then goes away and usually doesnt present a fault afterwards
that is until next engine start
first thing first get the code read and then let us know what you have for a code
