Check/change the timing chain tensioners and have a new A-drum put into the trans.(unless you can verify it has been rebuilt already which @ that mileage is very possible)
If you do it yourself it will set you back a few hundred, having it done maybe a couple thou.

Welcome to owning a Jag!

What is an A-drum and can it be replaced in the driveway?

Thanks!

Default A-drum ? response

Its an internal of the zf5hp24 trans thats crap and is gonna break. Guy at the trans shop said so many have broke that the part is on national backorder. You can check it out on my recent thread "P1722- no tranny shop is going to get all my money.

You need to drop the trans to get to it, its right behind the touque converter and pump. Then 14 bolts to remove the bell housing and your there, no other bolts or nuts not a hard job at all but I got a manual just to help me along.

I've done trans' in driveways before too, this time I got inside. You just have to hope the weather cooperates!
