XJ8 Withdrawal Symptoms.

XJ8 Withdrawal Symptoms.
As some of you may know my daughter who gets married on April 13 this year requested that her bridal car be an older style Jag. So I bought a 1999 XJ8 last December and it’s hidden at a friend’s house until the day of the wedding as my daughter thinks I have hired a Cadillac for the wedding day. My problem is that I have driven it a few times and last Saturday took it for a long drive, since then I find myself trying to figure out a way to get behind the wheel again as I miss the driving experience so much! Also as I live in Michigan I do not intend driving the XJ8 much during the winter months, but I cannot see myself surviving so long without figuring a way to take it out for a run.
Am I a lost cause? Is this common? Am I ?

haha, ive had 2 jags at the same time........completely totally not weird at all, not one bit =)
as far as your daughter is concerned. dont worry about her. Keep the car closer to you, park it around the block or something, and whenever you need to go somewhere just take the Jag.
Lucky for you, you only need to keep the surprise for another month and a half....after that you can drive it as much as u want!
are you sure thats the style Jag she wanted? not an older car?

princemarko: I almost bought a 2nd Jag a few weeks ago but it was pretty beaten up so I had second thoughts.
carzaddict: My daughter's requirements were that it had to have round headlamps and the "leaping Jaguar" on the bonnet (hood). I grew up in England and worked at JaguarSport for 3 years just before moving to the USA in 1994, I was able to take some of the Jags home and drive my family around in them during that time. I think that's what got my daughter hooked.

Congrats on the purchase, but..............
You definitely have to look for another one. Every father in your situation would not use the Jag as a "bridal car" only. You will have to go to a fabric store, and buy a red ribbon (about 20 yards of it!), wrap the ribbon across the car, and tie a nice bow on the top. Have a friend deliver it to the church (or the court house) while you are giving the bride away. When she walks out, there will be fully detailed (to the 'T"!) X308 as a wedding PRESENT. Personalized licence plate is optional, but a series of numbers/letters to represent April 13, 2013 could be used also.
Of course the title should be transfered into her name beforehand, and placed in the nice envelope, along the airline tickets to some exotic/romantic destination, and a cashier's check for the expenses.
Well anyway,....that's the way we do it over here.
Confession: I've done it. It was not a Jag, but the S55 AMG. Before I went through the expense, I had a "man on man" conversation with my son in law. Showed him my gun collection, and told him that he doesn't have to be concerned about it, for if he EVER hurts my little girl I'll never shoot him, but I'll gut him out like a fish, and feed him his internal organs.
So far so good.
