XJ8 XK9 ECU Interchangeablitiy
***SORRY - I MISS TYPED XK8 IN TITLE***
I did a little research and number seems to match.
I have a 2001 XJ8 that keeps giving a cam sensor error reading even tho the cam sensor seems to putting out the correct information according to my mechanic.
He thinks it may be a faulty ECU that just keeps popping up the same code.
I found an ECU from a 2002 XK8 with the number Jaguar LNG1410AE on the label.
Does my car use this same ECU? I am aware that ECU after 2000 are different than previous 308s.
(I do not have access to the number on my ECU at the moment).
Thought I would double check with the experts.

It means scrabbling about in the boot, there's something called a VCATS list that has all the modules and their part# in your car including the ECU, have a look in on around the wheel well, you'll need to pull some carpet. If they match you can try it, but I'll bet a replacement cam sensor is cheaper?
Hope that helps.

I have been frustrated with my car being in the shop so long: over three weeks now.
Mechanic said last week it was either cam sensor (which was giving out proper signal) or ECU. He was waiting for a similar Jag to come in so he could swap out ECUs and test it.
3 days ago still no luck so I ordered a reportedly working ECU off Ebay for about $ 65 plus shipping. There are dozens of used, rebuilt, etc. ECUs on Ebay and no body is bidding on any of them.
Guy I bought it from said it came from a 2002 XK8 that was totally smashed in the rear. Part came with a guarantee so I ordered it.
It did not come it today as expected (Friday) and so I won't know anything until next week now. That is why I was asking.
I guess I will just have to wait. Think we will make it to a month?
