Xj8L wheel offset of original factory wheels?
Hi,
I am trying to find out the fitment specs of the original factory wheels on my new-to-me 01 XJ8L. They are the 16" Crown or Corona wheels (not sure which). The details are not in the owner's books.
Tirerack sells wheels for winter use on the Jag. Iwould like to compare the offset to that of the original factory Jaguar wheels.
Iam trying to get this info is that I am going to mount other wheels with snow tires. From what I have learned so far,BMWs also use the 5 x 120 or 5-475mm bolt pattern.Range Rovers do too. But there are the differences in the other details, which should really not matter. However, in our own personal experiencedriving rear wheel drive at speed in bad winter conditions, the offset does have an effect! We havefound that the closer the offset is to ZERO, the better the car is.
Also interesting is that I've gone through most all thetypical European cars in the US and many domestics and the only ones thatare5 x 120 are BMW, Jag, andRange Rovers (NOT all Land Rovers). Some people have said that Lincoln wheels will fit later model Jags, but it looks likethat's just the S-type and the Lincoln LS, as you might guess, at 5 x 108.
If anyone has any insight, it would be helpful.
Thank you,
Jay

RE: Xj8L wheel offset of original factory wheels?
Of course, not many BMW's have a 33mm offset.
Also, hub diameter is important. All modern 5-lug BMWs have 72.6mm hub diameters, except the 5 series which has a 74.1mm diameter. What's the Jaguar hub diameter?
Hub diameter is very important. You want your wheels hubcentric.

So are Jags 5x120 or are they something in inches that works out "close" to 5x120?
Also, if the Jag hub is really 74.1, then E39 wheels are correct sizing there.
But, a 33mm offset is a big difference from proper E39 fitment. That would push the wheels out a lot on the Jag assuming it's +33 offset.
But, if you're running 5x120s, what are the front and rear offsets on them?

The wheels that I have on my Jag are 10J X 20" ET20rear and 9J x 20" ET25 front.

Yeah I got the hub centres mixed around
Nah, my ones are Ascari Pentas, look slightly better in my opinion than BM ones.
I had the XKR 20"Oyster Gold alloys on my old X300 with the same width alloys (theoffsets were slighty different I think), and they fitted fine too.
