The sales brochure I have says it was to celebrate the Lyons 100th birthday. A special edition for a special event. Doesn't sound like speculation to me!

You have NO idea what Jaguar was thinking when it comes to the bringing of the XJR/XKR-100 to market. I can "speculate" that it wasn't what you wrote (I was around then too). Our local dealer had no problem selling the one he had. And yes, I take your view on the XJR-100 as negative, after all......like you said, IMO!
I actually do ... My family was a parts supplier.

I never said anything about the XJR -- Only why Jaguar made the special addition. They actually offered the brakes as an option in some markets -- they did not sell. This was a way to get rid of them.

Don't forget the X350 was delayed .. they carried over the X308 into 2003 .. Cost them a lot of money.

My memory would have been 5k up-charge ... not 7.5k. See why I did not think it was a good value at the time.

Jaguar was doing some major discounting back then. They had a new white VDP that they offered to me at +10k off .. I remember that.

My 1998 VDP had recently been in an accident (totaled). I took my 1995 VDP in for an estimate -- it had a lot of miles on it and need a bunch of work. They had a 2002 XJR with a build of 8/01 - sitting for months at an inside storage facility (with others) -- plastic still on it. They gave it to me for my 1995 and 10k -- two year one payment lease with a 31k purchase buy out that they agreed to finance at 3.9 for 4 years. 3.9% was a good rate back then.

My 1995 was not worth 10k -- when you add up the costs. I purchased a new never titled but almost year old XJR for at most 52K in late 2002. That's 20k off.

That was the Jaguar reality -- even with the x350 delay ... they had too many cars.

Default Nothing, absolutely nada!

....well, if we're interested in buying, I think our discussion here should be "how they are worth nothing" so we can keep prices depressed when sellers do their research

.

They aren't worth much more than an xjr but do have cooler wheels that are worth more.
