Xjr failsafe/limp home mode
Hello All fellow Jag lovers! I have an 01 XJR with 154k on the clock and it's a great car. I had a new TB replaced in 2012 and it's got 42k on it now - I recently started to get the dreaded limp home mode/ASC/Traction control issue. Every time I pull over (because I have to )) and turn the engine off and restart the engine goes back to normal. I get to about over 100 miles each trip and then it rears its ugly head again. Dealership don't know what the issue is as there's no codes available. I have has an intermittent ABS/Traction control failure but that seems to appear when ridiculously hot outside. The car seems to hesitate before going into the limp mode and idles rough. TPS/PPS/MAF all all in working order. I did have a reconditioned alternator replaced last year but that's it.
I know there have been a huge amounts of posts on this issue but they all differ in some respect and mine seems different again. I'm leaning toward ABS sensor as the car's 18 years old. Any help guys/gals would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Steve

The Tbody has two sensors -- they are duel track and any dirt sets them off. Try pumping the gas pedal 30 or 40 times ... engine off. How is the battery?
When does the fault occur -- coasting -- accelerating ...etc..
my memory is ABS will only deactivate that function. The can buss will deactivate systems if it gets a bad reading from the Tbody --- it can't trust that sensor to give it correct data for traction/cruse and pedal input.
