XJR interesting...
Hello, I am considering to get a XJR but wondering if this enging may have more problems than other since is is supercharged
2002 JAGUAR XJR Supercharged Excellent
what should I be aware of if I buy this car ?
what are the most common troubles ?
maybe 130000mi is not low mileage for a supercharged engine like this...
thanks

Same age and mileage as mine, which I bought two years ago. At this kind of mileage, if it's not been done before, you can expect to have to go through the suspension and replace most of the balljoints and bushings.
The engine and transmission are going strong. The Mercedes transmission is pretty dependable. Listen to the engine when cold, and then warmed up. When warm, it should be really, really quiet, with just faint ticking from the injectors. Try the transmission in normal mode, NOT sport. When they wear, they start shifting badly in normal mode first.
My usual goal, when buying a car, is not to eliminate the most common issues, but the most expensive ones. Head gasket failure, overheating, shifting problems, car been in an accident and bent like a banana, and so on.
Both my X308s have suffered from spontaneous fuel pump failure. They tend to fail every 50-70K miles. Hopefully there is a record of it having been done, and expect to do it soon if it wasn't done within that mileage.
