The best way to charge a battery is out of the car on a trickle charger.

That being said; jumping the battery can be done. Connect the negative cable on the doner car last. Direct battery connection preferred.

There is no difference between the the battery terminals and the B+ terminals at the engine fuse compartment fuse boxes except for a pair of 250 amp fuses.

Charging at the battery is best! To get the trunk open is another thing. This might help http://www.gusglikas.com/AutoRepairTrunkPowerAccess.htm

Just out of curiosity - Is there any problem charging the battery while it is still in the car?

Thanks

Connect positive on donor car to positive terminal of battery in boot. Connect negative of battery in donor car to an earth point at least 12" away from the battery on the boot e.g. boot/trunk lid pin in centre of boot lip. Do NOT connect negative of donor car to the negative terminal of the battery in the boot. Do NOT connect anywhere else e.g. engine bay. Do NOT have the engine of the donor car running. Start the Jag. Allow the Jag to idle for five minutes or so. Remove positive lead from BOTH the donor car and the Jag. Remove the negative lead. Job done.

OK to leave the battery cables connected.

I have a question. Does your battery have a vent tube through the floor?

hi test point sorry for late reply internet was out of action, yes my battery does have a tube from battery going to the floor to let all the gasses escape from battery...

but today i stuck a new battery in a bosch one it seems to be sealed so that does not have any nozzle for me to attach the tube to... so the tube is laying in the boot idle guess not needed...

one question to all you guys after i stuck the new battery in now when i put the key in the steering wheel and seat won adjust i have to do, can anyone tell me how to sort this, before the new battery i put the key in the seat moves forward steerring comes down when i take the key out steering moves up seat moves back...

seems to have lost the setting when i changed the battery of the car any ideas how to get the settings back without having to do it each time i put the key in

regards

You should probably get and read an owner's manual- I say that not because I am unwilling to get mine out to remind me how to re-set the seat so I can accurately tell you, but rather, because there are many neat features in your car that you might like if you knew about them.

OK- You set the positions with the little switches on the door switch pack. As I remember, you press one labelled "S" then the program # 1,2, or 3 for the key you are using. I do not remember how to associate the number with the key. It is in the "seat memeory" area. As I recall, without a memory, the seat will not automatically retract.
