For the second time after cleaning the engine bay I got a p0327 code. Perfectly fine after a reset but I'm guessing it has a bad connection or some corrosion or the like. Where is it located?
Also gave a p1111 code which I'm assuming would be the restricted performance.
The knock sensor is on the top of the engine under the SC. The lead is potted on the sensor, but has a connector on the fron top of the valve cover.
correct and easily shorted with water in the connector, mostly from coolant leaks but as stated. After cleaning the engine. your not gonna like that repair on a SC engine
code hasn't come back so it'll wait until I have a reason to get access. Will code the connector with electrical grease and see if that takes care of it.
I am new to this group so forgive me if I have not put this question in the correct section. What is the exact location of the knock sensors on the 2005 Xj8L? Under the composite intake manifold? If so, what other procedures must be done after removing manifold? What other components need to be removed? And, do I need to get new gaskets, sealers, etc to reinstall everything correctly?
James, not quite the forum you require, hopefully a mod will move it to the right one for you. I will add that's it's good form to change seals for new while working on these engines.
The XJ8 knock sensors are in exactly the same location at the XK8's. They can be removed without pulling the intake manifolds and much of anything else. There is a post on that subject, with pictures, but I am going out to dinner at the moment and do not have time to do a search.
. . . and welcome to the forum.

Thanks very much for your response to this knock sensor issue. I have been looking diligently around the intake manifold and fuel injection rails, behind the engine block and side of the engine block. Can't find these sensors! They are hidden deep on this xj8! So you say if the black composite intake manifold is unbolted and fuel rail unbolted, the knock sensors will be directly underneath on the "valley pan top"?
Thanks very much testpoint! Please do forward pictures of this knock sensor procedure on the 2004-10 xj8 if you can. I have looked all around the entire engine block and cannot see these sensors anywhere. They must be buried beneath something like the intake. Any more info you have will be greatly appreciated.
I have been looking for these for the last few days. The JTIS 21 doesn't explain how to change them out AFICT and nothing else on the web has been helpful.
The X308 is covered in detailed pictures, but not the X350.
It seems like you have to remove the intake plenum, but even that remains a mystery. I did it once on the x308 for the valley hoses, but it was a crappy job. Is the X350 job any better? My car has a P0333 code ,but with no other codes or anything having happened like the valley hose burst, etc. If it turns out I have to remove the intake plenum, I'll replace the hoses and anything else in there.
So, I am really interested in seeing those pictures of the procedure.
Do you (or anyone) think the knock sensors can be accessed through the front of the intake manifold by removing the throttle body and the unnamed part in the illustration below?
It might (should) be easier then removing the entire intake manifold which I have done on a 2003 X308 and was bear of a job.
I posted this in the EGR valley hose thread, but haven't received any feedback yet. I thought I'd cover my bases.

Knock sensor would really appreciate more instructions on this as I have a p0327 left bank knock sensor code. I just finished rebuilding the SC so Iam hoping to find an easier way to change it. Please help or send a link to shanebryan2009@gmail.com
