Are the Penta alloy wheels for the 1998-99 XJR different to the Penta alloy wheels on the 2001-03 XJ Sport ?


The reason I ask, is in the PDF from Doug in the FAQ wheel tire standard fitment guide, it states ...


1998-99 XJR Penta forged alloy wheel 8J x 18
2001-03 XJ Sport penta cast alloy wheel 8 x18


The details appear to be from the JCNA Concours Rule Book.

 

I am only aware of one type of "Penta" wheel for our cars, I have never seen a variant on the style, so I think the rule book is in error on this specification for the different years of production.

I presumed the style was the same, it was that one was listed as a CAST alloy, and the other a FORGED alloy.


As I am sure you are aware, a forged alloy wheel is a lot stronger than a cast alloy wheel.

 

I am aware of the difference between cast and forged wheels.

Well, then I guess it may boil down to whether the judges want to get grass on their backs and how good their vision is, lol!

I was going to say that I doubt they made the same style wheel in both cast and forged variants, but I will await more knowledgeable folks for a final answer on this question.
