XJR with Premium Sound: CD / AUX Hack led to dead radio
Hi All-
I'm the happy owner of a (new to me) 1998 XJR fitted with the Harman Kardon Amp and CD Changer in the trunk.
I was keen to add bluetooth for audio streaming, so read-up on the various hacks and went forward with the CD Changer hack.
Punch-line is that I did the hack and buttoned it up and now have NO radio function. I checked the fuse (10A footboard fuse for head unit) and it's good. So not sure what has gone wrong.
Starting from the beginning....
First (minor) issue was that the Ai-Net cable connection would not separate. I pulled and got to a point where one side of the connector cover slide off and revealed the metal connector. I sprayed some WD-40 but no help. So I wound up leaving the wire connected and taking the CD changer apart in the trunk of the car. I am confident that I got to the 3 wires (2 signal / 1 ground) as appropriate and did the correct splicing / soldering.
I did not do anything else in terms of running the wires - I just buttoned it all back up and then tried the radio - but it's no working.
Any guidance is greatly appreciated. Specifically: How to get the Ai-Net cable apart and any diagnosing that can be done to see why the radio is now dead.
THANKS

Update: went back and looked over my work - - turns out I got a bit too excited with the soldering and a blob of solder melted insulation on other wires / caused a short. I was able to un-solder / separate / clean and all is well. It did blow the fuse (under rear left seat) - but simple fix. All good and thanks to the prior members who posted the DIY on the CD / AUX hack.
