XM Sirius In Dash for 2000 XJ8
Can anyone direct me to where I can purchase or have installed either an XM/Sirius direct connection to my exhisting in dash(stock) system or a complete replacement Am/Fm/CD capable XM Satellite in dash unit for my 2000 XJ8. I currently use a XM Delphi Satellite receiver but would love to have the entire system as an in dash unit. Haven't been able to figure out who, what, where I might find what I'm looking for. I even Googled the thing with little luck. Need some help Guys

Re patching satellite radio to your head unit
i also would love to add SiriusXM to our XJ8, but for now i'm just making "mix tape" cds and putting them in the trunk cd changer.
as for your desire to have SiriusXM, based upon what i've seen in the forum, 1) given the proprietary (one of a kind, non-standard) layout of the dash in the X308, you'd have to have a custom panel fabricated to accomodate & support a replacement head unit. 2) most people add XM or iPod inputs accomplish the task in the trunk, using an A-B source splice or plug /unplug spliced into the back of the cd changer. in other words, if you splice your SiriusXM output into the cd changer's line out, your factory radio won't know the difference; the factory radio will think it's the cd changer.
as for changing stations on the SiriusXM, members favor running a cable along either the driveshaft hump or down the bottom door jamb to & from the trunk (boot) area, while mounting the small SiriusXM control pod at the console, in front of the center armrest (where the open ashtray is located). Members remove the ashtray and run wires up from below.
in other words, it can be done, but in the X308, it's not as simple as a new head unit unless you know a good fabricator for the lower dash fascia.
