Hi all. I found this yellowish creamy slug in the full breather tube as I was looking around. It seems like water and oil mix? Is this normal? Planning on doing the t-stat, housing and waterpump soon, parts on the way. Anything major to worry about? Thanks folks

Well it could be a sign on head gasket failure. A sniff test is conclusive so a trip to an autoshop or buy the kit to confirm.
How cold is it where you are, if it's freezing then I wouldn't be concerned just change the oil and filter when you do the pump/t-stat combo.
I found a similar telltale on the back of the oil cap when it was freezing moving the car round in a storage facility - water vapour condenses on the inside of the engine when shut off, this can build up if the engine doesn't get hot enough for the vapour to evaporate leading to mayonnaise. I'd suggest running to car up to temp and see if it's gone before saving for the headgasket job![Wink](https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/images/smilies/wink.gif)
Hope this helps

Thanks SeanB- I think you nailed it. Freezing here and only been driving to office and back, not enough driving to get things hot enough long enough. Thanks for the quick reply. Also decided to tackle the tensioners too. BTW, only have 38K on the car, trying to stay ahead of possible problems. So when I saw the Mayo I jumped to head gasket, never thought about weather conditions.

One more question folks. I noticed the O-ring that is on the cam cover seems crushed. It is orange in color I think. Can't locate this part, breather hose is in good shape. Anyone know how to replace just the O-ring? If I ordered a new breather hose would they supply new O-ring too?? Thanks
