Default Yet another crankshaft pulley install question

I have read most if not all the threads on this topic and haven't found quite the right answer. I have just bought a very well cared for 1997 XJ8 convertable and am replacing the timing chain tensioners and guides. (60K miles no cracks on tensioners, a few small bits missing from guides) I bought the correct tools, looked at a bunch of posts and videos and am reassembling the engine. I have all the tools in place, (the one in the flywheel, the cam lockers and the tool that bolts to the damper) I also have the spark plugs installed. I am tightening the crank bolts and getting VERY concerned about the force I am applying. However, it is not really giving much/any pressure to the damper tool (in other words I can still pretty easily turn the damper locker tool). I am EXTREMELY concerned given all the warnings about using the flywheel locking tool. Any other tricks ? I saw the advice about jack handle on torque converter bolts, that seems a little scary as well. Also not sure how to access ?

Once the timing chains, guides, blades, tensioners, sprockets etc. are in place and tightened, the locking tools are to be REMOVED!!!!!!!!!!!

The damper should be installed with ALL timing lock tools removed!

There is absolutely no need for the tools to remain in place because the timing cannot be altered at this point except by BRUTE FORCE.(but the timing segment/slot in the drive plate can be bent/damaged by the lock peg or the cam tool fasteners can tear the threads from the head, again BRUTE FORCE)

If the crank is rotating while holding the damper, you might try locking the torque converter with a prybar through the access hole on the bottom of the bell housing.

The early 1997 AJ8 engine does use a different damper locking method. (see TSB 303-10)

Ok, I got it. Thank you. Sort of an old Ford guy and this is weird. Somewhat offputting to have it turn like that. I appreciate the kick in the pants.
