Default ZF Mercedes transmission swap

Having two X308s at the same time, a '98 3.2L and a '00 XJR, I must raise the following question.

As the ZF 5HP24 put on all the NA X308s is so prone to problems, whereas the Mercedes 722.6 put on supercharged cars so much better in so many ways, can one simply swap a 722.6 to the NA cars? I cannot imagine they are not interchangeable except perhaps the computer?

I feel this should have been discussed extensively already given the weakness of the 5HP24, but I couldn't find the proper thread. So if there is one, just direct me there. Thanks folks!!

Nope, you can't simply change. The 5HP24 isn't actually a bad tranny. If it get's it's care, it can live long and prosprous

The Mercedes tranny isn't the best of all choices wither...

Without any knowledge of what truly stops a 722 from being put into a n/a car, I'm willing to bet that it's the communication between a s/c TCM with a n/a ECM & I/P.

One other issue is that one type of gearbox has its gear position switch next to the shifter, and one has it on the case. I forget which has which.
