1990 vandan plas majestic - trunk won't open, boot stuck/jammed
1990 Vanden Plas Magestic
Hey everyone, just looking for some tips or advice, I've been watching videos and reading threads.
I can't open my trunk,. There seems to be a couple problems,
i do not have the trunks key
"the boot" won't budge no wiggle
there is trunk switch located in the glove compartment, pressing it does nothing.
I checked the fuses all seem to checkout.
When I try and open there is a small amount of movement,
So I'm seeing a lot of people using the utilizing the holes Behind the license plate
Then drilling out an actually hole in center.
Any suggestions? Or ideas?

The trunk key is the ignition key unless you have a green (valet) ign key - green keys won't open the trunk. Also, lock can be sticky, If you have a black ign key, try wiggling the key.
I think the standard way to get into a locked, key-missing trunk is to remove the license plate and trip the latch through one of the holes using a screwdriver ...I don't think you need to drill more access holes on a North American car though ...

Thanks for the info that's a huge relief. I've tried to use the ignition key and it won't turn at all. Maybe I'll try some kind of lubricant or cleaner.
The cars manual confused me it says there's separate key. The ignition key does fit the trunk lock but the tension turning it I figured it was wrong.
