Default 1990 XJ (Sovereign) Parasitic drain,,,

newbie owner here, 1990 sovereign, and must say im loving her!

Battery drain prob at mo, will deplete overnight so have draw somewhere and about to investigate fuses one by one.
But did notice this alarm type thing fitted to battery clamp, it is diconnected but anyone know what is was? im thinking aftermarket alarm system, which may make the parasite hunt more tricky!

Thanks in advance

Hello bunglebear,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us!

That does look like an aftermarket alarm and could certainly be related to your parasitic drain. Pulling the fuses one at a time while monitoring current draw will help you isolate the circuit(s) in which the drain is occurring. There are a lot of possibilities.

Please let us know what you find.

Also, please visit the New Member Area - Intro a MUST and post a required introduction so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you a proper welcome.

Cheers,

Don

The 'ATTACK-BELTS' are prone to drain the battery when the system fails.
The motors sometime keep forcing the belt mechanism after the travel end is reached.

The lights in the front headrests sometimes 'stay-on'.

Lots of things to check.
