Default 1993 Manual...

Hi, Any of you have a 1993-94 XJ40? Ineed a small favor.Would you be able to scan and send me a copy from your owners manual of how the heck the ac/heatcontrols work?Themanuals I got are not good for this as oneis in french, and the english manual is for an older XJ (pre air bag and with different heating controls). I've been pushing all the buttons, but really need instructions on how it all works. Thanks if you can take the time to do this for me. rkieken@yahoo.ca

You may want to try Ebay for the owner's manual. They are out of print but pop up there from time to time. We're close to Louisana, I could maybe get a Cajun to call you!

It's pretty simple, the verticle lever is how much cool air you want blowing in your face, so blue is top vents and if u lower it it should blow more on your feet. The knob on the right controls temperatur of the air, and the knob on the left is the intesity of the fan. There are the 4 buttons, A/C on turns on the AC. the one with the arrow recirculates air in the vehicle. MAX turns the AC on high basically. ANd manual I dont know what that does. From my memory that is everything. If your having a hard time it means your AC is probably broken because it's pretty easy to understand if it works.

Works fine, but for example, what does the demist button do exactly? When I tried it in the morning recently, all it did was fog up the windscreen. I used defrost and it cleared, but really I doubt the purpose of the demist button is to fog up the glass to give the defogger something to do. As I understand it the slider is to control where you want the air directed..does this mean on cool days you would also use it to direct the warm air? There's no reference in the older (1992) manual I've got as the 93's panel is different. I'm getting lots of cold air from the A/C but despite the fan running there seems to be less than desireable air flow from the vents. Is this normal on XJ's? This will no doubt be less of an issue as I'm getting all of the glass tinted next week so the A/C will have less load in any case.

P.S. The "coolest" option on this car so far is the security locking feature where all the windows, doors, and sunroof secure with the push of a single button. Not sure if it was common on al XJ's but very "James Bond" ...neat stuff.
