1993 XJR Jaguar keyless entry question
Hi,
New to the forum, i tried to search for my problem but didn't find an answer. I just got a 1993 XJR model. There was no manual and there is only one set of keys - actual key and a fob. Now i was sure the fob is the keyless entry but after replacing the battery when i click the fob the car makes fast to high pitched noise - i understand that this fob is only a remote alarm thing. The question is - is there a keyless entry? How do i open other that drivers door from outside? At the moment i have to open the door with the key and then crawl back to manually unhook the doors - any help?

Yes it has keyless entry, you just have to program the remote, see FAQ:

Thanks Larry,
I did program it with the instructions - i was able to successful open the trunk with the fob but no luck with the doors. Not sure what i'm doing wrong - will try ask around for a mechanic.
Also - if the fob doesn't work - isn't there another way to lock/unlock all the doors from inside? And finally - is there a digital version of the manual for this car somewhere i can get?
Thank you!

On the dash, between the heater controls and the radio there's a row of switches, one of which on the left is the door lock "panic button". Hit that switch and all the doors will lock.
There is a version of the Haynes manual online, but depending on what part of the car you want to access, (electrical section for instance) there are .pdf's in the archive, e.g.:
http://www.captainjaguarscathouse.co..._Reference.htm
and

also have a good look through this stuff -

Good luck -
Have another go with the remote, it will work but it takes a few tries to get it maybe??

Larry,
I think the Captain Jaguar website has been down for a couple of years now but if that link doesn't work, a version of the Haynes manual can be downloaded at the link below. It's missing a couple of chapters for some reason but includes the rest of the manual:

Cheers,

That's a very interesting question. I don't have a remote at all. But on mine the doors all lock and unlock at once from the drivers door key. This is a "feature" that I have never really cared for but as "they" say- it is what it is.
Anyway, I wonder if the solenoids at the individual door locks are working properly- only based on my experience.

I have already figured that the pilot is only for alarm/trunk. There must be a malfunction with the power locks system - turning and holding the key in would close all windows but all doors stays open.
