1994 Vanden Plas Engine?
I see the radiator is different with the 1994 having the electric fans as opposed to the belt drive. Also noted that the oil filler cap is located beside the valve cover as opposed to on the valve cover. Apart from that, If I purchase an entire 1991 VDP can I retrofit the motor (ie change out the radiator as well)? What about the rest of the drive train - as I was also thinking about changing out the rear axle (from the 1991) and replacing the coil springs and shocks. Maybe the whole thing from radiator, motor, tranny, and shafts back to the rear axle. Is this something that can be done or is it just a completely different motor/drivetrain. Thanks.

Hi I am just an enthusiast like yourself but I do have almost one of each of the cars you are talking about. 92XJ40 (driver) 94XJ40 (spares). When I look at the two side by side the only difference I can see is the fan setup. (which if I get bored over the summer I might make the change to the later setup).
The rest looks to be just cosmetic, interior trim differences (colours).
When I check your two Vin numbers, I come up with 6cyl 4L cars in both cases.
You can confirm for yourself here:

This is for Ken, I know that the engine underwent some revision in 95 for the X300 with the AJ16 motor, but I can't find any difference between the 91 and 94 engines AJ6 or drive trains, unless it was an early 4L TWR XJR.
Please will you point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance, Richard
