1994 XJ12 no start
Just bought a XJ12, great shape. One problem, it won't start. Put a new battery in, got spark and have fuel in the fuel line. Checked the VCM and it says Fuse 5 Fail. I have the manual and it doesn't trouble shoot. Thinking that it's either fuel injection system or fuel pumps. Put ether in 2 cylinders but would not start.

Good luck!

replace
OK, replaced all 5 relays on the firewall on the passenger side engine area. Also replaced the fuel filter. Have not checked the fuel pressure as of yet. Vehicle did not start.
Going to check fuel pressure to see if the fuel pumps needed to be replaced.
Have not found the two 30 amp fuses on the A pillar to cancel out the Fuse 5 Fail.
Will keep plugging away.
Thanks for the help.

Looks like I may have erred with the fuses. Check the LH fusebox, fuses B9 and C6. They should each be 30 amp. Are either of them blown? Fuse 5 Fail should indicate one of them is blown. Old age settin' in.
Fuel pump #1 relay is behind the boot side trim, in front of the RH tail lamp. You could jump the terminals and see if the pump in the tank can be heard running. Pump #2 relay is part of a relay module above the RR wheel, harder to get at.
Did you check for spark at the plugs or at the coil wires?? Check at the plugs to be sure you don't have a burned through distributor rotor grounding your spark.
Cheers,
