1994 XJ6 sick kitty, please help Poboy or Jagtechohio...
Hi Guys!
I need some help for my beautiful 94 XJ6 - a few weeks ago as I was leaving the market I had trouble starting it, when it finally started it died right out. I waited and started it again, and proceeded to drive home, all was well. When I got to my street, the car died clean. I pulled to the side waited a few minutes and started again, I was able to get home.
My husband got in and drove up and down the street just fine, not even a hiccup.
I drove it to work the next day and as I was leaving it died in the parking lot and hasn't started since. I replaced the coil, ignitor, crank sensor and temp sensor. Could it be my ignition itself?
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks! Melissa

Is there not a mechanic in your area you can have the car towed to?
The first basic items to check is whether the ignition system is making spark when the engine is cranked over. On your model car, the second is to make sure the fuel injectors are clicking when the engine is cranking. The third is to see if fuel is being delivered at the fuel rail connection when the key is turned on.
That could get into a rather lengthy description of items to test to troubleshoot the actual problem, and might require equipment you don't have.

Melissa, look around your city/region for either a jag dealer, or if you don't trust that route, call around for independent mechanics that have lots, and I mean LOTS of experience with jags. I've been fooled before, so please learn from my mistake and do some legwork before dropping off your car to anyone.
Could be alot of possible causes. Good advice above, that's his limit for the day I'm afraid.

Hi Guys!
Thanks for the help, yes I am really a giiirrrrlllll....... LOL I once owned a candy store named sweet melissa's.
We have plenty of fuel but no spark, we have power going to the coil, but it's not sparking, but going by the repair manual I read that water drips onto the main ECU on this particular model. I called a local place that specializes in Jaguar, and sells used Jag parts, but he said he very rarely sells the main ECU but he would give me one to try if needed.
My hunch is that it's in the ignition, I posted on another Jag board,
and sparkenzap was kind enough to direct me here. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Not really sure what that last bit you have ordered is either, but it reads like you've replaced just about everything.
If this happens to anybody else who wishes to obtain parts to swap out, please get in touch and I can provide good used ones and at least help to make it a less frustrating exercise. That way you get all the tech help you need as well, and won't have to buy stuff you don't need.

I'm replacing the electrical part of the ignition, if you have a used that would have been great and I will keep that in mind for next time. I didn't know you also sold used parts until now. I explained earlier that I called a local yard that specialized in used Jag parts, but they never called me back on whether or not they had the ignition, so I went ahead with a new one. I'll keep you in mind for future parts as I have no problem buying quality used parts. Thanks Mel
