89 XJ6 dash elec. probs/lights, speedo
Recently bought an 89 XJ6Vandenplas, at a bargain with recent paint and new tires. Runs great, cold a/c however I bought it knowing it had some electrical poltergeists. Mainly the speedo works at times, sometimes eratic them nothing, also the dash lights and digital displays for fuel, temp etc. The cruise control also does not work and I noticed that when I bump in the general vicinity of the cruise the dash lights will come back on for a while. Was going to remove cruise assembly and look for bad wiring but Haynes manual avidly warns against working in this area due to possible air bag deployment. How can I dissable airbag? Or should it be safe to proceed with caution. Also automatic shoulder strap mech don't work. Drivers side stays in the up, and passenger sometimes works perfectly, sometimes stays in the down. Any feedback greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Thanks,

I don't believe the 89 model has an airbag, so that shouldn't be a problem. You are kind of in jail with the attack seat belts. You can try to take them to the dealer. Some still do them under warranty, although they don't have to. You will hear people say that these were lifetime warranty. It's not true. [:@]
I have used ones for $400. OUCH! I don't stock new anymore because they have gone north of $800!!!
