Pay attention to the suspension system and make sure hydraulic suspension system is working well.Otherwise it would cost you $$$$ to sorted it out.And I bet since the system is so sensitive it lacks of maintenance .Each time when you start your engine rear end of the car doesn't have to move up .
Since it's an earlier model year ,you might have a difficult time trying to findexact tyres for your wheels .(220 65 VR 390) .Either Dunlop or Michelin is a way to go for the rims.
After '90 , wheels are different and easy to find .

There is another thing just comes in my mind besides I already posted about self levelling suspension ....Fuel door .May be you will say " wtf" but those earlier models have some quirks .
For instance :It should pop up when you press it down to thebottom of it but it might not work efficiently .Late '90 years solved this problem just having a new design.
If you live in Istanbul ,go to Maslak and find Jaguar Spesyalistin the 2nd section(Specialist in English)

These also go through outer door handles. Check each door to make sure it opens from the exterior. At $200 a pop, these can add up quickly.

Hi All,

Thanks for all the input .... I've also noticed that the interior wood panelling especially at the gear tend to crack. Is this something that need to be sorted out before the purchase or something reasonable to replace. I'm checking one but have promised him to come back to inspect closely the car. It is a 1988 XJ40 with 3.6 engine. The leather is also hard .. I thought should be sofyt leather.

Best regards,

I hate to tell you this, but the price of those repairs will probably exceed the value off the car.
