Another fuel pump failure.

Another fuel pump failure.
With all this talk of fuel pump failures and my answers to some questions, I have my own to replace now.
I went out to my 1992 XJ40 to move it to mow the area where I park several cars. I keep the battery disconnected because I don't drive the car except maybe once a month.
The 1982 Rabbit Diesel started fine as did the 1999 XJ8L.
The XJ40 just cranked!!!
I jumped the fuel pump relay and did not hear fuel flowing through the fuel rail so I went to the boot to listen for the pump. NOTHING.
The pump draws current because the jump wire 'sparks' when I install/remove it from the relay base.
I ordered an AIRTEX E8249 so I guess I'll roll it into the shop and replace it soon.
This will be the second pump replacement. I installed one years ago at around 110K miles and it has 187K on it now.
Sitting around and not being used does not do it any good. It worked about a month ago when I started it to drive around the property to get the fluids flowing.
I'm blaming all this talk on the forum for my pump failure!!!! (what else could it be???)

I hadn't checked this forum in awhile, so I'm a little late.
Within the first few months after I bought my '91 Sovereign, the fuel pump failed. Had it replaced, and over the next few months, the engine would just quit, maybe restart, or maybe not. This happened about 6 or 7 times. Finally, found the problem to be the wiring harness connections at the top of the tank. Once that was repaired, there hasn't been a problem. All of that occurred 12 years ago, and to date, the Kitty Kar (my wife's name for it) is still running fine, with my son using it as his daily driver.

The burnt EVAP flange connector is a common fault so an updated one was issued.
Luckily I have 6 or 8 EVAP flanges from all different Model Years and a bunch of pump module housings.
I have not pulled the car into the shop yet to find the fault. I have 5 other cars to drive so I will get to it sometime.
