Anyone have instructions for an xj40 steering rack

Its actually quite easy once you jack the car up. The rack itself is held in by 4 bolts to the front cross member. There are two hydraulic hoses to undo, make sure you have a catch pan for the fluid. And then the tie rods- count the turns as you unscrew them and turn them back the same number to install (may not be same side to side) and then the steering column clamp bolt. Of course the order to remove should probably be reverse of that- tie rods, hoses, lower steering column connector, then mount bolts. I would have a "real" alignment done afterwards too. Change your fluid along with the new unit. Don't overthink this one.
