Default AUTOCAR XJ40 Buyers Guide article from today

This rather useful article from The Autocar popped up in my Jaguar Cars newsfeed today, which I just happened to check.

There was a New York Times article from 2008 entitled "Rust in Peace" that makes these cars sound awful. When I read it, it was, "Are we thinking about the same vehicle?"

I'm not too concerned about the criticism and I don't really care what their opinions are because I love these cars, always have, and always will.

Agreed, I have a Toyota Sienna van which I love as much as any Jaguar. Not for its design, but for its absolute dependability. Its the best vehicle I have owned as far as Not Breaking. But I couldnt drive it every day (sorry 'yota) because it does not...... how would I say..... It doesnt make me smirk. (It probably should though)

Usual bunch of comments from non owners and BMW lovers.

Who cares what they think? Most people who see my old bus say "beautiful car"

....and they are right!

While working at a friend's garage, he showed me a copy of the Hagerty Insurance magazine with an article on '90s cars that included the XJ40, and overall it's a flattering review:

Cheers,

I found the comment from L.J.K. Setright interesting - that, "the XJ40 was a purer and better design than the four-headlight X300 that followed". Thanks for posting this, Don.

Hi Jerry,

I service several Toyota/Lexus vehicles that have done more than 300,000 miles. One of them was at 354,000 the last time I worked on it, so it's probably at 360,000 miles now. That is tremendously reliable transportation! But like you, I couldn't drive a Toyota or Lexus every day.

Despite their idiosyncrasies, Jaguars spoil you like few vehicles can.

Cheers,

Don

Jaguars are like very good looking, sexy women. You don’t get tired of looking at her, but her moods will make you question your decisions.
best to all,
Cino
