Automatic Shift Cable XJ6

Automatic Shift Cable XJ6
Hi, I have a 1991 XJ6 Sovereign that won't start in park. I took it to a transmission shop and they said the shift cable was pretty much worn right off of it. I've tried finding the part locally and online but can't find something that's not an outrageous price. Does anyone know of any aftermarket shift cables that I could find and if they work? Jaguar has discontinued the part I need (mna4830ca) and I have found a Hurst transmission cable that says it's universal. Any input or recommendations are welcome.
Thanks,
Joel

Hi Joel,
Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us.
I have moved your post from the forum for the X300 to the forum for the XJ40, which is the Jaguar factory project code for your 1991 XJ6.
I have repaired worn or broken shift cables by various methods, sometimes using parts from throttle cable repair kits available from sources like Summit Racing.
If you will send us photos of what you are dealing with we may be able to offer some ideas.
In the meantime, please visit the New Member Area - Intro a MUST and post a required introduction so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you a proper welcome.
Cheers,
Don
