Blower working on high only

Blower motor just started working for no apparent reason? It's not a fuse. I'll lay odds on a glitch that the early XJ40's had in the climate controls.
it was fixed on later models by addition of a capacitor soldered into the wiring on the back of the control panel. You'll see this referenced in other threads, but no one seems to know where the capacitor goes. The Haynes manual addresses the fix and lists a factory part # for the capacitor and says the instructions for installation are included with the part. Some have told us in the threads that the instructions are NOT included. Just so you know, my '88 XJ40 does the same thing - it'll work fine for a while, the not work at all for a while, and sometimes, it'll work intermittently from day to day...I just don't know. My plan is to find a '90-'94 version in the wrecking yard to compare wiring. Good luck. Like you, I love the ride of these big Jaguars.

I found a oneline on your year car and on page 79 you may find the information you need. Take a look and see if it helps http://www.captainjaguarscathouse.co...ec%20Guide.pdf I hope this helps and I will set it up on a new post.

It is Fig 29 It gives you the relays to check. This oneline will also give you the locations in the car for you to find them. Do not let the oneline intimidate you, just take your time. I am not familiar with that car to provide specific help. If you can locate the relays for the system you can try to swap one relay with another like relay it the problem disappears then replace the relay you pulled. I hope this helps.

Roger,
It looks like you are on the right track right inner fender engine compartment. I had a 93xjs with an ac problem and it about drove me crazy. At that time I did not have a oneline and did most of it with a volt meter and tracing wires and lines. You can do this! It would be great to see if we had an expert in this area to help you.
