Blown Drivers side window switch
Hey all,
I have been looking around and found lots of switch issues but haven't seen my particular one so here it goes.
Windows all worked fine FROM the drivers side panel. Never worked from the individual windows.
Then yesterday tried to roll down drivers side window and smelled the wonderful electrical smell and no joy on the window going down.
So my question is if I replace the whole unit (window up and down for all 4 windows and child lock) would that fix the issue. The other 3 windows work fine from the switch so I don't think I have a blown fuse.
Help is much appreciated. Lucky I just replaced the AC so I am not dying in the heat in Texas.

It is kind of difficult to give a concrete answer, hence probably why no one has.
On the drivers master control switch assy is a tiny switch which if moved can deactivate the individual window door controls.
If something has burned there will always be a tell tale odour remaining. You need to do a sniff test of the switch and possibly remove the door panel to have a sniff at the motor.
I can't remember the wiring connector pins but you can hot wire to see if the motor is still working.

Ok I have been doing some searching and talking. The dealer said that that whole panel is one piece. Then I looked online and it showed that they came in one piece.
Talked to a Jag repair guy I trust and he said that they should be separate buttons. He found them online for 250 a piece YIKES but online I have been seeing 650 for the whole assembly.
SO my question is now if they are separate is there another style or type of button I could get that is cheaper out there? May not be "jag" but would fit in that hole. I could figure out the wires and splice the new ones in?
Other option is find somewhere that has a large selection of dead Jags that I could order the whole harness but I don't know of any near Dallas Tx. If you do let me know.

Anyone know if this would work inside the 1992 VDP? Jag changes so much from year to year I just don't have a good clue. But for 50 bucks it may be a good try.
